About Raymond Savignac & the Armagnac Ryst poster

Raymond Savignac was a French graphic designer and artist, born 1907 in Paris, France. Savignac died in 2002 in Trouville-sue-Mer (Calvados).

Savignac was one of the greatest poster designers of France. His extensive works are characterised by an exuberant use of colour, surreal scenes in a typical French style, always with a sense of humour.

The town of Condom, capital of the Armagnac, is located in the heart of Gascony in the Gers Prefecture, on the banks of the Baise in France. The ancient, above ground wine cellars of Ryst-Dupeyron can still be visited today.
